Here's some Pretty Serious polish for your viewing pleasure

Hi guys, how are you today? The sun is out where I am and it's so lovely after such a cold, wet winter. Of course, I know that we still have plenty of cold and rainy days ahead, but the tree in our front yard is covered with blossom, flowers are starting to poke their heads up, the birds are singing and you can just feel that winter is at an end. Hooray!

Anyway, I just bought a couple of polishes from Pretty Serious Cosmetics the other day as they were having a sale and just had to take a bunch of pics too, so here's some of them, from me to you, with love.

The beauty on show today is Haddonfield, named after the Halloween movies and part of Pretty Serious's "Killer Fangirls" trio which also includes "Crystal Lake" inspired by Friday the 13th and Elm Street inspired by, obviously, A Nightmare on Elm Street.
Haddonfield is a fabulous orange jelly filled with gold shimmer, orange microglitter, larger holographic hexes and random shaped black shards...it's the most divine colour- a deep, rich orange that reminds me of ripe tangelos.
I reckon this would make the perfect Halloween polish if you celebrate that sort of thing (I don't as it's not a holiday we celebrate here) but I also think it would look amazing with a little black dress, as it has a certain luxe feel. IMHO it's definitely beautiful enough to be a "special night out" polish.
Oh and you get a very cool collectors card (each of the Killer Fangirls trio comes with its own card that gives a cute nod to the polishes namesake). Here's a pic of the Haddonfield card;

 

And now onto the polish itself. Application wise I only needed two coats, no dabbing required, easy peasy application and two coats of Seche Vite to smooth and seal it all.

I can't praise this polish highly enough, I love it. I think the colour is incredibly wearable, especially for an orange. The depth, the unusual black shards, the gold shimmer... it all adds up to a really eye catching, glamorous nail polish that I would encourage anyone to try, even if you don't normally do orange. I think you might be pleasantly surprised :)

My best ever gradient (that I am so proud of)

Hey all, how are we today? Hope everything is fine and dandy.
Today is something a little different, I'm going to share with you one of my best ever gradients.
I love gradients, they're my go-to nail art favourite. I also love dotticures, but for some reason gradients are my favourite and I can't seem to help myself from whacking on more polish if I get the chance. And this one is by far the prettiest I have ever done, it's like a tropical sunset or a deep space supernova. Something bright and gorgeous anyway ;)
So, without any further ado here it is;

The polishes I used were Mud's Pink a Lot and Dark Room, Pretty Serious Cosmetics' My Darling Clementine, Arcane Lacquer's Funhouse and The Power, The Passion and finally Miss Ashleigh's Too Hot to be Blue. All but Mud are Australian indie polishes and they're fabulous too.

I can't begin to express just how stoked I was with how this turned out, it really is my best gradient to date and I think I'll be hard pressed to top it.

I'm going to be doing another gradient today as I'm going to a family do tomorrow and want my nails to be really bright, so if it looks as good as I'm hoping it will I'll post some pics of that soon.

Whee! Another Aussie indie polish review, Pretty Serious VT100

Hi guys, hope everyone is well and enjoying their respective seasons- it's definitely wintery down here in Rye with lots of rainy days and cold winds.
Normally I'm a hot weather kinda gal, but to be honest I don't mind the cold too much at the moment as I'm still recovering from all these surgeries, and who would want to be outside in this?
But I'm feeling a lot more positive that this summer I'll be back in a bikini and on the beach, and maybe my leg will be working well enough that I'll be able to play some frisbee with my daughter, Sophia. Frisbee= us failing to throw the thing with any accuracy and falling down laughing all over the place. It's the best way to play :)

Anyway, on to business (hardly, but you know what I mean). I got a couple of packages in the mail today and one of them was by a great Aussie indie company, Pretty Serious cosmetics. I've already reviewed one of their polishes here and today's polish was equally impressive.

Pretty Serious "VT100"

VT100 is a gorgeous emerald green jelly filled with gold and green microglitter that simply comes alive in the sunlight, yet manages to achieve wonderful depth in indirect light also.

 It's a very easy polish to use- the formula is just right with this, not too thick as some microglitters can be. I used two thin coats here, although I suspect you could get away with just one as the opacity is great. Being a microglitter it did dry slightly gritty, but two coats of Seche Vite and I was good to go (microglitters may dry gritty, but they also dry quick, which is a definite bonus in my book).

I really dig the addition of the gold microglitter, it adds a nice twist without overpowering the gorgeous green. And will you look at that lovely depth? Mmm, just beautiful (I am a sucker for a good green, no doubt about that).

VT100 is currently on sale for only $5.95 over at Pretty Serious, although this particular polish is available for Australian customers only at this time.
However they have plenty of products available for international buyers also (including the  gorgeous Grimm Demise, which I covet desperately), so go take a peek if you're in the mood to add some seriously pretty things to your collections (get it? boom tish! I'll be here all night... thank you, thank you).

And I'd also like to say how touched I am by the kindness of all of you who have reached out to me in regards to my discussions about depression- it is so lovely to have people I don't even know take the time to offer such encouragement, although it is saddening to see just how many of us there are out there who battle with this issue.
My heart goes out to each and every one of you who has been touched in some way by this debilitating illness and I hope I can be of support to you too- just drop me an email or leave a comment, I'm always around to lend an ear.
